'The public provider of the future'

Public Food is developing the ‘public provider of the future’ (along the lines of social housing or public transport) that takes shape as a network of public canteens, providing organic super tasty nutritious meals at the price of fast food. The self-service canteens are strategically located in living environments around schools and stations and resemble something of an Ikea restaurant.

The food industry is primarily driven by commercial - not public or planetary - interest. In order to change that, we need new democratic public institutions that put the health of citizens and the planet at the centre. The ‘public provider of the future’ is essentially a new utility company, which allows for the municipalisation of food security. It is developed in public-civic partnerships with (local) governments.
